Ode to a buggy

As we pack and get rid of our things we are feeling slightly wasteful that we live in a world where it is cheaper and more practical to discard and replace things than lug them around the world with us. Aside from the whole travel thing we really do try not to be wasteful and try not to get sucked into materialism. In our very material world I thought it would be nice to express my appreciation for an object that we have discarded but that has provided us such good service for nearly nine years. Aurora was very disappointed to see it go but then again there is wasteful and there is finally admitting that we have been pushing a pram where the front wheel hasn't been working for three years and the metal is so rusted from snow and salt we can barely remove the wheels to change the tire. Letting go was the humane thing to do. And yes I do believe euthanasia has its merits.

So thank you for 9 years of uncomplaining and outstanding service. You have put up with crying children, soothed and comforted tired children, been lugged on mountains and planes, rolled for miles and miles, and been faithful even when we cursed your bulkiness and flaws. You are as close as we ever got to a nanny. We hope some resourceful parent has found you and given new life to your old tired parts.
