Tova has been looking forward to
her birthday. About a week ago she started exclaiming to me "Soon I am
going to be 4!" I had to correct her and let her know that actually she
was turning three and that next year she would be four. Unfazed she
replied "yeah soon I am going to be four!" But for all intents and
purposes she may as well be four. She can run, she can talk non stop for
hours, she can jump off the diving board, and she can put babies to
sleep.
Zadie's arrival has tipped Tova from Mascot Baby to Big Sister Posse. Tova lavishes Zadie with dolls and toys, she supports our newborn classical music program by playing both Mozart and Bach at the same time on different machines ("No papa! She doesn't like Chop-aaaangh!") and she sticks her finger into Zadie's mouth, up to the knuckle, to pacify her.
So in typical high-energy Tova style, her birthday involved eating a kinder egg in bed, trampolining for an hour and a half, decorating a "massive" cake, enjoying "grapes with vitella" (Tova code for crepes with nutella), bouldering in her new climbing shoes which, much to her delight, stain her feet green, and swimming underwater for the first time.
She's a great complement to our family. Where Aurora is mellow, thoughtful and bookish, and Sophia is joyful, eager and accommodating...well, Tova is rambunctious, mischievous and imaginative - and if her sisters' gentleness is smoothing her rougher edges, the bright streak of boisterousness that runs right through her is never going away.
