Without meaning to we somehow managed to visit Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland last month. I felt pleased with this unexpected travelling feat, though, also a bit exhausted. Ireland, however, was the perfect ending to the quartet - with its omniscient sun, and pillowy clouds, and vibrant green undulations we were all soothed. It was also nice after staying in cities during a heat wave to be rural and cool. First at a rented farmhouse where Tova communed and became lasting besties with two cheery but mud encrusted pigs and where we went for walks on country roads followed by our properties very old dog and lineup of cats. Not sure why the cats liked to follow us on walks? This was followed by a visit with friends that we dearly missed. Their son won all of our hearts with his exuberance and stories and we revelled in their company. Lucky us who got to explore an amazing part of Ireland with amazing people. Our children got to experience their first cowfari, gorge on blackberries (honestly our spring and summer have been one long forage!), play on rugged windswept beaches, and learn to pick up chickens. Part of me wants to move somewhere rural simply because Tova loves it so much. Also, I am fostering her current desire to one day be a farmer as it is the most reasonable and least violent occupation she has yet been interested in. We all hope we make it back to this magical place and people.
