Lucky number 13

Aurora has, in her mostly quiet and stately way, entered into the next phase of her life. Tennagedom. A decade ago Aurora had an unexplainable fear of teenagers and would get fearful and teary when one was around. I am relieved and proud she has overcome that fear in time to avoid an awkward situation. So here we are celebrating a child who has conquered fears and scaled mountains (real ones). And I hope as we now cruise into decades of teenage years I don't develop a similar phobia. So far though I am thinking it is going to be lots of fun. Aurora is amazing and good company. She can now make us all bread, babysit small children (plenty of those still around too!) and beat us at board games. She is sensible and smart and really good at reading novels and staying up late or both at the same time. She is the ultimate adventure partner and is always the first to count herself in to any crazy idea I come up with.  If I had to guess what sort of person she would be based on the contents of her pockets its looking good; with a small plastic platypus, and bedside clock given to her by her grandfather, a small knife, two buttons, a rock and a rope found on a beach in Vietnam I have to say I am feeling really proud and intrigued to watch this child turn into an adult.

Also in please note that in celebration of Aurora she has gotten the honor of being the 300th post on this blog.

Look how cute she was thirteen years ago!

Look how capable she is

Look at how fun she is

Look how she makes rainbows out of pandemics

Maybe the only photo of me and Aurora this year (she is waring the hat I wore as a teenager)
