Everything is a little slow these days. And I am too. Which is why it is a week late but I am still going to write about Jakob because I like him and it will probably make him feel good which is important because our 60 hour journey will likely make him feel bad. And it was his birthday. Also it is much nicer to write nice things about Jakob than to give a discourse on flying (or not flying) across the world during a pandemic. Jakob is definitely more exciting than a pandemic. So this one is for you Jakob.
As hectic as the past couple of weeks have been, I am glad that you got to swim in the lake for your birthday and eat salmon and chocolate cake in the forest instead of having packaged food in a hotel room with a lot of dolls (and children). It set the right tone for your 39th year. And just to make sure that it is a year of bioluminescence for you I have taken the liberty of signing you up for what I can only assume is your favorite Olympic sport -the biathlon. You will ski and shoot in Beijing yet. You will achieve goals and dreams you never knew you had. You will wave flags and swim with sharks. All your pawns will definitely turn into queens this year. You will give lengthy discourses on the merits of sunshine - in Italian. You will write and sing songs that will make your family swoon. I will gladly jog to keep up with you. You will build castles out of sand and ice. Dream big Jakob because this year you will glow.
