A break from productive life

Last week we appeared to have a rain cloud hovering over us. It was both unusually cold, cloudy and rainy, and things kept going awry. Nothing horrible, just a lot of small things. Our computer needed to be repaired which coincided with a major issue for iPhone users, making lines at the shop drudgingly long. I didn't notice the brake of the bike trailer had bent out of place until partway to school pick up so I ended up pushing the bike with trailer two and a half kilometres home. Thankfully I managed to hammer the part straight. Two days later I noticed (at school again) that the hitch connecting trailer to bike was cracked so I again pushed the bike and trailer and children home. Thanks to online Christmas shoppers the part won't arrive for a few weeks so we are bikeless. Out of the blue our car wheel detached from the car frazzling my nerves and damaging the car body. So we were left carless and confused. Can gray weather really be the cause of so much unexpected destruction?

To make things worse, we both seemed to have our heads in the clouds. Carless and bikeless I took buses across Canberra for an appointment only to discover I got the date wrong. We were rocking Chanukah until we realised we had looked up the holiday dates for 2018. It was the sort of week that makes you want to go to bed early. Thankfully our weekend camping with friends was the exact opposite - sunny and wonderful. We soaked up the sun on Depot Beach, went on four-kayak expeditions, collected rocks of every colour from red to violet, splashed in the waves,  and cooked veggie dogs and marshmallows over a roaring fire. Running away from our woes for a weekend was a great idea!
