Last year we had
such a great time in the snowy mountains hiking up to Kosciuszko we were
eager to repeat the excursion again this year. We were hoping that if
we waited a bit longer into Spring there would be less snow hiking up
top but in fact the Spring has been cooler and there was more snow than
last time, especially given it snowed three days ago. But the kids were
happy to have a chance to walk through snow so we went ahead with our
plans.
We knew that Tova could not walk the whole 13
kilometers and that the trail was relatively flat so we decided to drag
our stroller up the ski lift with us thinking that we would push her
until the snowiest bits. What we didn't know is that shortly after
arriving in the Snowies Tova would develop a fever, cling to us like a
little koala, and even sitting up would be exhausting.
And
we made the possibly poor parenting decision of going for our hike sick
child and all. Which I have to say worked out alright. The stroller made
it up the ski lift. Tova perked up a bit for the ski lift ride and then
settled into her chariot to take a much needed sleep. It wasn't easy
going pushing her up the trail but it was worth the effort. Halfway to
the peak, when we hit larger snow drifts, I headed back with Tova (still
sleeping happily) and Jakob continued with the girls to the summit.
Sophia and Aurora were both very excited to summit the peak again and
when we met up in the afternoon they were both rosy cheeked and jubilant
looking. Another victory for the young Teitelbaums. Tova got ice cream
so she felt victorious also.
holy moly...your belly!!
