Smelling the roses

The last six weekends in a row I have been out of town. And these weren't just little day trips. Between Byron Bay, Darwin, Alice Springs, Jervis Bay, Sydney, Melbourne and home I have been to five of the eight Australian states in the last six weeks. And while it was tempting to book a trip out to Western Australia for this past weekend really I was looking forward to putting our suitcase in the closet and relaxing. But after being gone so much we were a bit out of practice of relaxing and our weekend quickly filled up with errands and socializing and events. And somehow the three hours I did get without children I spent going for a three hour hike/walk home. And half our family had a cold which sort of made us all grumpy at different times. So really, while we had a great time and the kids were ecstatic to go to the school fete and two parties we didn't feel refreshed from our weekend at home quite like we expected. But Summer is in full swing and it isn't easy to stay at home and relax with the skies shining so blue. Plus, even if we didn't really stop and smell any roses (which are currently in full bloom) we did make a great strawberry rhubarb pie from our farmers market gleanings and that was pretty rejuvenating.

Wish I could remember what I said

Turns out she will allow me to photograph her in exchange for extra reading time
