Melbourne you were worth it

When we moved to Canberra we figured we would get to do some weekend trips out to Melbourne. What we didn't figure was how expensive flights out of Canberra would be and so we went other places instead until I finally decided that we should just make the trip happen. The most cost efficient way of making it happen was to drive. Seven hours is no big deal for some people but between big bellies, bad backs, vomiting and yelling, we usually avoid this much driving. Funny because 7 hours of walking seems like no big deal. But I figured not everyday has to be easy and it would be worth it.

Sure the drive was long but we structured the whole thing into 15-30 minute activities and the kids were champs. And we had such a nice weekend. After being in our quiet capital we all were overjoyed at getting to socialize with old friends, walk places, see sites, go to festivals and museums and eat great food. I met Jakob after he spent the Friday morning working from the Melbourne office. He was jubilant and proclaimed that actually, maybe even if I wasn't, he was really a city person at heart. I thought it was hysterical, given that we really only lived in Melbourne off and on for a total of 9 weeks that the woman in the cafe near his work not only remembered him but had noticed his absence and wondered where he went.

The girls had such a great time with their friends they are already asking about when they can go back. When I ask Tova which park she wants to go to she answers "the one in Melbourne." So we might have spent a quarter of our trip in the car but we all agreed it was a small price to pay for a happy weekend.

We had too much fun playing to take pictures

Sophia and Tova really like long hallways
