Teitelbaums in Motion

Our last day in Canberra was action packed. We zoomed around town doing lots of our favorite things. Also, we no longer had any house so relaxing at home was not an option. We went to a lovely trail running event where I ran 8 kilometers of up and down. Pretty much a self propelled roller coaster. I may not have been the fastest but I made sure to run up all the hills and I thoroughly enjoyed exhausting myself. Aurora and Sophia participated in their first race: Sophia enthusiastically and Aurora acceptingly. It was one kilometer on single track with children ranging in ages from 2 to twelve. There were dolls hidden along the trail for the children to find which was genius as that was probably a way bigger motivator than the actual running. Tova insisted in doing the race also - but in my arms. Aurora and I went on a hike in the eucalyptus forest and saw three koalas and some wallabies. This was very exciting but not nearly as exciting as nearly stepping on a snake crossing the path. We are not sure what kind of black snake it was or if it was venomous but were pretty glad we didn't find out the hard way. And we learned our lesson of not looking up while walking!

After our rendezvous with nature we headed into town to enjoy bouncy castles and free gelato. We are gong to miss our friends at the Green Shed who kindly turn income generated from salvaging and then selling items from the dump into gelato for everyone. And then off we went to the climbing gym to use a different set of muscles. By this time we were pretty hungry so we had a some pizza and then went to the airport to wait for the last flight of the day to Melbourne. Well, actually the last flight of the day period.

And so here we are in Melbourne. It really is a shock coming back to a big city. We all gawked at the massive parking garage at the airport as if we had never seen anything like it in our lives. And then we gawked at all the traffic at 11pm on a Sunday. Really what are all those people doing driving around at that time on that day? And then we stared at the man being arrested outside our new abode. And then we stopped staring and stopped caring and closed our eyes and went to sleep.

Melbourne is big. After living in Canberra it really is a shock and it makes us realize that maybe we don't want to live in a big city. Aurora seems to feel the same way and spent here first day in Melbourne vomiting. No joke. Though I admit there is a chance Melbourne is not to blame.
