Running Fast

Our lives are not at their most stable lately. We think that our time is Canberra is probably coming to a close. But, rather than things becoming clearer they have become less so. For the next two weeks Jakob will be on two projects in two different cities. If only we could duplicate him it would be a lovely plan but our expeditions to the science center have not yet covered the step by step cloning procedures. So Jakob will become a real life Hermione minus the benefits of magic. A real work marathoner. While we have committed to following him around I had to just give up on this one as he will be pingponging a little to quick for us to keep up.

Before he embarks on his work marathon I am glad that today he got the opportunity to do a marathon more to his liking. Today Jakob got to run a half marathon trail run at Namadgi National Park.  It was a blue skying cool sunny day. There were 199 other jolly runners. There was one man running the show, registering, briefing, debriefing, coordinating, taking photos, handing out mugs and medals who in my opinion won the race for his efforts. Jakob's knees were belligerent but put up with him. The girls and I got to socialize with some kangaroos while we waited. Jakob was tired and happy at the end.

I also got to go for a trail run afterwards. I have, unsurprisingly, developed a fondness for running up mountains and got to indulge in Mount Tennent. Trail running is completely absorbing and running up mountains is really a rush. It is a bit like someone who has drunk tea their whole lives and then tries coffee for the first time. I think I will make a habit of it.

And go!

Nice place to wait

Yay Jakob!
