Opening a new honey jar

Here comes another time of year that makes us feel lucky to be part of a religion that encourages dipping things in honey.  The children are enamoured with Rosh Hashanah. I spend most mornings scolding children for licking honey off spoons or eating the honey off the top of their yogurt. Then here comes a day when they are obligated to dip their already sweet apples in honey, their bread in honey, and no one will say anything if their fingers get covered in honey and they have to lick them clean.

Inspired by Blake Little's photoshoot where he pours honey over people (look this one up it is incredible!) I decided to get a little creative for the new year. No I didn't pour honey over my children. The idea was to try to take a few photos of honey in motion. Obviously the girls thought this was a great idea. I knew things would get out of hand but just how quickly things go wrong when you mix honey and children is incredible. Tova and Sophia went wild sticking their paws in the honey and slurping it up. Aurora and I tried to keep order but it was a hopeless sticky mess and I finally decided 10 minutes was long enough at this activity. As a last hurrah I let the kids smear their paws in the plate of honey. Sophia gleefully obeyed with little Tova frantically trying to keep pace. So here it is, a sweet new year from us to you!
