A beautiful mind

I have many children who turn a year older this fortnight but somehow Zadie's birthday seems the most epic. I have been gifted such an outpouring of affection and good company from this child for five years. I have been so loved. She is our only child who has managed to avoid all childcare and babysitters through both her strong will and easygoing nature. If Zadie says she will play quietly while you get work done - she will. She is naturally such a kind, considerate, and polite child.  She is a child who is logical and has an organized mind. She likes chess and patterns and mental math. She can play complex board games without losing patience and with winning strategy. In some ways this past year has been a tough one for Zadie. She was not keen on preschool. Preschool felt to her like we were sending her away (even if it was two days a week for 6 hours). "Mama, do you like being with me?" "Of course I do Zadie" "Then you should be with me all the time." But this past year has also been one of a lot of growing. All of a sudden a few months ago school became a magical place that she desperately wanted to go to. She decided her sisters' escapades were better than her mother's arms. She decided it was worthwhile to play with kids who were not her sisters. She jumped from beginning readers to chapter books. Zadie has enjoyed the comfort of the down under her mother's wings as long as she could, but now that her flight feathers are in she is ready to soar.

Super Zadie

She has inherited the ability and desire to read while she walks
