The children have started online learning which is a feat of scheduling for the parents working behind the scenes. At the start of the week we were all missing setting our own schedules and learning tasks but by the end of the week had gotten the hang of it all a little bit more and resigned ourselves to intimate relationships with various devices. We have learned this last week that Sophia somehow has solid computer skills and can manage her own learning. Tova would be happier riding her bike and playing all day. Aurora really doesn't like staring at screens all day. Zadie misses going to real preschool (a feat given that it took her half the year to come to this conclusion). Last week I accidentally printed two booklets of curriculum for grade two so Zadie insisted on working side by side with Tova. Except for needing someone to write for her she did incredibly well keeping up. Here is a story she wrote which makes me think Jakob has a disciple and makes me wonder in more ways than one.
"Paddington is lying in the grass sleeping and then something gloomy sweeps over him. Then he jumps and climbs on a tree. He tries to break the branch of the tree but he can't because there is a guard under. Then he swings from branch to branch. He finds a branch with no one under it and he breaks that one instead. His mother and father are very angry at him. Paddington goes to shops and takes lots of goodies without paying. The shopkeeper almost catches Paddington but Paddington runs away as fast as he can. Then he meets a friend dinosaur. Dino friend says "Why do you have chocolate around your mouth?" They find a fish and steal it. Paddington asked "why did you eat the fish?" Paddington ran away and the dinosaur ran in the opposite direction. Dinosaur meets an elephant and Padington meets another dinosaur, but a T-rex. (at this point it seemed like things were going to last as long as lockdown so I told her to wrap it up). Then his mother and father spotted him and he got into trouble. They threw him down the stairs and he had to go to the hospital." THE END.
Sophia entered a handstand photo competition at gymnastics. As her photographer I got into the project and our joint ideas led to some great photos. Her photo was chosen as one of the winners but honestly we had so much fun doing it that just having the photos seems a win. So here they are.
