There comes a time of year in the life of every active child that involves competitions and we are in the midst of it. Sophia had three gymnastics competitions last month and Tova one acrobatics competition. And they were both pleased.
Sophia takes her sport very seriously. She trains hard and would probably train double the hours she does (12 per week) if they let her. She prepared for her competitions tirelessly - practicing routine moves while walking, while talking, while eating and likely in the shower. This aggravated Aurora to no end because the moment when she would burst into a move was always a little unpredictable and many a limbs flung out unintentionally at people around her. We learned to leave a covid safe distance between us and her as much as possible. Sophia took her enthusiasm of learning new routines to a whole new level and not only learned and practice her own routines but those of the level above her and the level above the level above her. She had three competitions and her scores went up with each competitions. Is there any better win than beating yourself?? She is beautiful to watch on the floor with very precise delicate movements.
Tova really likes acrobatics. - a sport we didn't even know was a sport until not that long ago. It is a mix of circus and gymnastics performed in a team. As she is slim and small she gets the honour of being the member of the team who climbs on top of others and is thrown in the air. Really the entire selling point of the sport is that danger and heights element. She is not the serious performer Sophia is but a little more free and laissez faire. She can keep her good cheer up when being dropped from a height accidentally or messing up a routine. Honestly, I was a little nervous about her doing a team performance sport given her approach but she has risen to the challenge and now has incredible core muscles. She looked really cute and happy performing with a big smile on.
