Winter has a way of creeping into a person and settling like cobwebs. Long gone are ambitious evening of swimming and frolicking. Our energy seems to be sapped by illness and more illness. We have had an endless escalation of viruses culminating in the flu. The flu left us reeling and it has taken weeks for the kids to bounce back. Or rather is taking weeks as we have forgotten what snot looks like when it is clear and what it is like to sit next to Tova when she doesn't sniffle after every third word. In usual Canberra spirit the weather isn't actually too bad with the sun shining nobly at midday, the daffodils already starting to bloom and the roos bouncing enthusiastically. Our house, unfortunately, absorbs none of that sunshine and keeps us as cool and forgotten as vintage wines in a cellar. And there are many other things that have made June seem a long sad month this year but now that it is July seems a shame to think too much about it. There are endless rounds of cards to be played and feet to be tickled until their owners giggle with glee. Life is too short not to eat chocolate eclairs for breakfast and then go cross country skiing on the fake snow of the bunny hill in the rain.
