Go Sophia

Lucky Sophia got to do a triathlon! If you don't live in Australia then I am guessing you have never tried weet-bix. Have no fear though because you are probably leading a reasonably happy life without them. In fact, I would argue that you are probably leading a happier life without them. They are a breakfast cereal shaped like a granola bar but made of wheat but made to resemble cardboard in appearance. They are crunchy if eaten without milk and when eaten with milk disintegrate into a cold porridgy wheaty mush. Our family has tried really hard to like them because lets face it we want to fit in and it seems like a reasonable household staple. Alas, we are left with a feeling that our days will be worse if we take the Aussie weetbix for breakfast route.  But my love for weet-bix has increased significantly after watching Sophia in the kids triathlon sponsored by weet-bix.

It was such a nice initiative to get children active and actively challenged and such a great opportunity to try out triathlon as a sport in a non competitive non stressful way. It was a good incentive to get Sophia biking, swimming and running in preparation. Also, I think practicing changing quickly for transition is a life skill that will serve Sophia well when her mother waits impatiently. Sophia was a champ. I could tell she was a little nervous but she was so excited to be a part of the event and seemed to really enjoy doing it. She was so cute and smiley in all the photos they took of her along the way that my heart gushed and whispered to me to buy the photo pack so now you too can enjoy Sophia looking adorable.

All triathletes should have bows and ruffles on their bathers

She looks so happy! Hope she had her eyes open for part of it...

No way we can forget who the sponsor was

Yay Sophia! But we still aren't going to eat weet-bix

    1. Yeah she is really cute! Hopefully there will be others. Tova was so upset that the minimum age was 7 and is fiercely determined to do her own triathlon now.

  3. Tom will agree with you regarding to Weet-bix. I don’t mind it if you eat it as soon as you pour the milk on it. And with banana.
We had it at his aunt Terri’s place in Perth. Sorry we couldn’t get around to more then the south east.

    1. Sounds like we have similar tastes Kari! At the triathlon they had a stand offering Weet-Bix with bananas and honey. The girls resourcefully procured a bowl of bananas and honey with just a whisper of Weet-Bix.

    1. Yup hopefully she can be an inspiration for all us boring adults. I too now want to be able to swim while smiling and bike with my eyes closed.
